Anarchism is founded on the observation that since few men are wise enough to rule themselves, even fewer are wise enough to rule others.

Well, I hope that subject line got your attention.
If there is one thing I regret about this weekend's hot topic, Chris Grayling and his words on gay bed and breakfasts, and the whoops of joy that have erupted from non-Tory circles as another "Tory gaffe" becomes this weekend's political quarry in a spectacle as unwholesome as some would view pink coats riding across hill and dale after Charles J Fox it is this...
This week it is likely our legislators, pretending to have balls to show to the baying tabloids, will vote to kill numerous, unknown but just as inevitable for that, predominantly young people by once again driving the trade in some narcotic into the hands of The Most Evil.
Grow up people! I could not give a stuff whether the odd hostelry would prefer not to have the odd homosexual stay the night. I do care, passionately, that our so called political "leaders" can think of no better way of dealing with drugs than to use the law to guarantee greater harm and more deaths.
And anyone who thinks that Grayling's opinions on the former are more important, such as spending their efforts setting up petitions to get him sacked for it, has their priorities twisted way up their small intestines.
You probably arrived here following a link to this other post - well tough - you've got this rant instead.

Concern about the former doesn't preclude (even greater) concern, about the latter, of course, Jock. People are capable of holding strong views on more than one issue at once. But I agree that setting up petitions about it is insane. Grayling's comments were fairly nuanced and capable of explanation. And I am always delighted to be drawn in the direction of your blog.
